2016 Castello Banfi Chianti
2016 Castello Banfi Chianti, a wine made in the Chianti DOCG of Tuscany, Italy, by the producer Banfi, from Sangiovese grapes.
Fermentation and subsequent maceration is carried out in the traditional way and the must rests on its lees for 7 days. After malolactic and alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged for 5-6 months in stainless steel tanks.
A wine that in sight, in still glass, leaves us a red-violet color, with a medium layer, clean and bright. Violet reflections in movement.
On the nose, with a medium intensity, at times high, leaves a good presence of fruit, mainly red fruit, with lots of freshness. The ageing process contributes smoothly, with a clear presence of spicy touches.
In the mouth it is a wine with a fresh attack, lots of fruit (cherries, blackberries), with a good balance of acidity and alcohol. Spicy contributions such as cinnamon, hints of wood. Slightly astringent (more so at the beginning), with a light pass through the palate, direct, fast, with a tight persistence and a not too long finish.
A wine that after tasting deserves the rating of Very Good, reaching a score of 89 points. A wine that is far from the expectations of a Chianti Classico, but very pleasant to drink.
