SOMMOS welcomes the end of spring with wine, gastronomy and unique experiences between Somontano and the Pyrenees
In the heart of Somontano, among vineyards facing the Pyrenees and villages where stone walls still echo centuries of history, Bodega SOMMOS has transformed wine into a way of experiencing the territory. Known for its avant-garde architecture and its winemaking philosophy that combines innovation with deep respect for the landscape, the winery has become one of the leading references within the Protected Designation of Origin Somontano — a wine region where international grape varieties coexist with native grapes in a privileged setting between mountains and valleys.
The Somontano appellation, relatively young compared to some of Spain’s historic wine regions, has built a strong identity based on quality, diversity and wine tourism. Here, wine goes far beyond the glass: it blends with gastronomy, local traditions, live music and the welcoming atmosphere of the villages of Alto Aragón. That spirit is precisely what inspires the busy calendar of activities SOMMOS has prepared to bid farewell to spring and welcome the beginning of summer.
The season begins with a journey back in time in Monzón, where from May 22 to 24 the town will once again be transformed during the 2026 Templar Tribute Festival. Medieval markets, performances and historical reenactments will fill the streets, while SOMMOS returns as the official wine partner of the celebration. Its Sommos Reserva will once again become the official “Templar Wine” of this tribute to James I and Guillem de Mont-rodón, pairing history with one of the winery’s flagship wines.
Just one day later, the atmosphere shifts from medieval history to relaxed outdoor enjoyment as Somontano en Ruta arrives in Binéfar on May 23. Plaza España will come alive with wine stands, tapas and music, offering visitors the chance to discover new wines while enjoying one of the region’s most popular wine tourism events.
The route continues on May 30 in Benasque, perhaps one of the most spectacular stops of the tour. Surrounded by the Pyrenean mountains, visitors will enjoy wine, gastronomy and live music in an unforgettable alpine setting that perfectly captures the essence of Somontano.
In early June, SOMMOS heads to Zaragoza, where the city will become the capital of Garnacha wine during the II Garnacha Festival from June 4 to 7. Tastings, pairings, gastronomy and live performances will turn the Parque de Macanaz into a vibrant showcase for one of the Ebro Valley’s most iconic grape varieties.
The journey then moves to Jaca on June 6, where Somontano en Ruta once again brings together wine lovers in Plaza Biscós for an evening of open-air wine tasting, local cuisine and the lively atmosphere that defines the event.
Alongside these festivals, SOMMOS also offers more intimate gastronomic experiences. On June 10, Casa Aniquino will host a wine pairing dinner featuring wines from the winery’s Colección range. Carefully designed dishes and wines will create an experience meant to be enjoyed slowly, highlighting the nuances of each pairing.
That same philosophy continues on June 18 at Pre&Co, where seasonal and local ingredients will accompany a selection of SOMMOS wines in a dinner focused on discovering unexpected combinations between food and wine.
The tour concludes on June 20 in Aínsa, one of the most beautiful villages in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Its historic Plaza Mayor will host the final stop of the season with live music, tapas and wine — the perfect setting to celebrate the arrival of summer surrounded by friends, great food and excellent wines.
Through this program, SOMMOS is doing more than promoting its wines; it is showcasing a way of understanding the territory itself. Each event connects wine with culture, history, gastronomy and landscape. Because in Somontano, wine tourism is not simply about visiting a winery — it is about wandering through medieval villages, listening to music beneath the mountains, sharing tapas in lively squares and discovering that behind every glass of wine there is a story deeply rooted in the land.
