1994 Marqués de Murrieta Ygay Reserva
The tasting of this wine, Marqués de Murrieta Ygay Reserva 1994, is one of those occasions that come along on rare occasions and that, without a doubt, is very worthwhile. Especially being able to enjoy it slowly and seeing how almost 30 years are present in a wine, watching its evolution and feeling that we are in front of a living being.
A wine produced by the Marqués de Murrieta winery under the protection of the DOCa Rioja. A blend made with 60% Tempranillo, 30% Garnacha and 10% Mazuelo. The wine is aged for a minimum of 24 months in American oak barrels.
Great expectations that have really been fulfilled.
This 1994 Reserva is a wine that has shown itself to be tremendously fine, smooth, very smooth, with a spectacular color facilitated by its time in the bottle and with a very good ageing, as I know.
A particularly rich mouth, a fantastic evolution, perfectly rounded, fine and delicate tannins. Slightly dry at the beginning but immediately fills the palate with ripe fruit, slightly liquorice, spicy touches perfectly combined. Medium volume, elegant passage, very good persistence and a fairly long finish being as it is a wine of 1994.
A truly excellent wine, not only because it has such a spectacular tasting, but also because the evolution it has had in the bottle has made it something really special.
As I was saying, without a doubt, a tasting that will always be worthwhile.
