2017 Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
2017 Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a wine produced under the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG in Italy, Veteto area. It is an interesting blend of 70% Corvina, 15% Corvinone and 15% Rondinella grapes.
In the visual phase of the tasting it is a wine that in a still glass shows a fairly intense garnet color, covered, with a medium-high layer and some violet reflections in movement.
In the olfactory phase it presents itself with very good intensity, persistence, hints of cherries in liquor, contributions to dried fruit, dried strawberries, raspberries, grapefruit, figs, strawberry jam. with many floral contributions that evolve throughout the tasting. Spicy notes from the ageing process such as cedar and smoke.
On the palate, the attack is quite fresh and fruity, with good acidity (not too high) and a medium body on the palate. Good persistence and a long, warm finish in which spicy touches appear as in the nose, with hints of wood. Medium tannins.
Without being a huge Valpolicella, we can say that it is ‘textbook’ and allows us to get into the profile of these Italian wines with a very good CPR.
A wine that after tasting deserves the rating of Very Good, reaching a score of 88+ points. Very good for pairing with light dishes as it accompanies with its freshness and wide range of aromas.
