In 2007, Carrie and Alex Vik set out to find an exceptional Chilean architect to design a world-class winery—one capable of producing wines destined to join the pantheon of the great wines of the world. They launched an architectural competition open to Chilean architects, culminating in a final presentation where eight shortlisted teams shared their models and visions. That same evening Smiljan Radic and Loreto Lyon’s project was selected as the winner. Over the following three years, Carrie and Alex worked closely with Smiljan’s team to turn the conceptual design into visionary architecture with elegance, functionality, and sustainability to fulfill the vision. VIK is proud that this remarkable collaboration contributed to Smiljan Radic’s recent recognition as a Pritzker Prize–winning architect.
Today at the heart of the vineyard, the winery blends into the surrounding landscape as land art, with its white fabric roof floating just above the vines. The hidden entrance opens onto a tranquil water plaza, dotted with a river rock installation by Smiljan Radic and Marcela Correa, a celebrated artist and Radic’s wife whose work is represented in various parts of the property. The space evokes the sensation of standing within a gentle river stream, flowing toward the transparent winery.
Perched on a hilltop with sweeping 360-degree views, Vik Chile, the properties guest retreat, offers an immersive encounter with VIK’s natural beauty. Suites and shared spaces are conceived as living galleries, where art, light, and landscape shape the guest experience. Below the titanium and glass sculptural main building, Puro Vik’s glass houses hang off the steep hillsides hidden by the surrounding forests, offer luxury, privacy, epic views, and a striking sense of stillness.
More than a vineyard, VIK is a fully integrated wine destination. Guests are invited into every layer of the experience, from private tastings of VIK’s acclaimed wines—including VIK, awarded 100 points by James Suckling, and STONEVIK, its ultimate natural wine—to three refined dining experiences: Milla Milla, VIK Zero, and Pavilion VIK. Each offers a distinct culinary concept while sharing a common thread—the use of fresh, local ingredients, most grown on the property. The experience is further elevated by the recently opened Puro VIK Wellness Village, rounding out an exceptional stay at VIK Chile.
Located in Millahue, Chile, just two hours from Santiago, VIK was conceived with the singular vision of creating one of the world’s greatest vineyards and luxury destinations across its 11,000-acre estate. Blending world-class winemaking with contemporary design and a deep connection to nature, VIK offers a transformative experience rooted in its remarkable terroir.
