Wine Route of Aquitaine
The Wine Route of Aquitaine is arguably one of the most significant wine routes in the world today, encompassing renowned areas such as Bergerac, Armagnac, and Bordeaux.
Bordeaux vineyards are the most famous in France, attracting travellers and wine enthusiasts from all over the world. Every year, tourists flock to this wine region to explore its culture, traditions, production secrets, and, of course, its exceptional wines.
Like other wine routes, this one can be divided into stages or sub-routes, offering extensive opportunities for exploration.
Heading towards Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, at the foot of the castle, a tasting cellar showcases the sweet white wines that have brought fame to the area. Nearby lies the Sauternes vineyard, which hardly needs an introduction. Prestigious wines such as Château Yquem and Château de Malle are produced here.

Saint-Émilion
A jewel among the medieval towns of Aquitaine, Saint-Émilion is renowned not only for the finesse of its wines but also for the beauty of the town itself. Visitors should explore its remarkable underground church and climb the 187 steps to the bell tower to admire panoramic views of the surrounding area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. If captivated by the town’s charm, the Saint-Émilion Excellence tourist agency can arrange a tailor-made stay combining vineyard visits with the art of living.

Châteah
Before reaching Libourne, it is worth taking a detour through Pomerol, home to some of the most highly prized wines in Bordeaux.
Dordogne River
Next, cross the Dordogne River towards Bordeaux. In Beuchac and Caillau, a visit to the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur houses is highly recommended. Their vast cellars reveal the extraordinary variety of red, white, and rosé wines produced in the Bordeaux region.

Périgord, Dordogne
After crossing the Garonne, follow the estuary of the Gironde to explore the Haut-Médoc, resonating with iconic names such as Château Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, and Lafite-Rothschild, evoking aged labels yellowed by time and the history of centuries-old vintages.
