American Wings Chardonnay 2023 is a wine produced by The Wine Group in California, USA, one of the largest wine producers in the United States.
It is not a 100% pure Chardonnay. The blend is approximately 77% Chardonnay, 22% Colombard and 1% Muscat Blanc, giving it added freshness and aromatic notes that Chardonnay alone does not always offer at this price point.
Even so, in tasting it showed quite a smoky character, along with rather flat overall sensations.
It is fermented in stainless steel tanks and also spends a short period in French and American oak barrels, which lends subtle buttery and woody notes without becoming excessive.
Tasting notes
On the nose, it shows aromas of ripe fruit, citrus and spices, with hints of butter and oak. On the palate, it is smooth and slightly sweet, with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, a touch of butter and a pleasant, persistent finish. The colour is a medium-intensity straw yellow.
An affordable wine suited for everyday drinking.
