2021 Laudes, Adegas Laudes presents the new vintage of the most awarded Galician wine in 2022
One of those tastings that I really wanted to enjoy is this wine that I bring you today, Laudes 2021, the new vintage of the most awarded Galician wine in 2022 produced by Adegas Laudes under the D.O. Ribeiro.
If the 2020 vintage already seemed excellent, this new vintage of 2021 shows the good work of this winery, especially because this vintage was complicated climatologically speaking that had many rains at the time of harvesting the grapes which could greatly condition the final profile of the wines.
“We were lucky, because we achieved the optimum ripening point of the grapes just before the start of the rainiest days, which allowed us to harvest the grapes with excellent quality”, says Lázaro, winemaker and one of the partners of the winery.
The result is a wine that leaves us with a more intense and even slightly fresher tasting than the 2020 vintage, with a very clear presence of the peculiarities of the terroir of this Galician area of Ribeiro.

Winemaking of Laudes 2021
A wine that, like the previous vintage, is made with three native Galician varietals such as Godello, Albariño and Caíño Blanco. The percentages are not fixed as they depend on the quantities given by the plots each year.
The grapes come from different plots. From ‘Finca Raposeiras’ comes the Albariño, from ‘Finca Batocas’ comes the Godello and from ‘Finca do Monte’ comes the Caiño Blanco. All of them were harvested at night, with a maceration at the freezing point of the skins. The last two are plots of around 1.5ha.
From there, part of the must completes fermentation in oak barrels from Mont d’Allier, where it remains for 9 months of oak aging. It is blended and left in stainless steel tanks for 3 months to unify and be bottled, after which it spends 4 months in the bottle to refine.
Undoubtedly a different elaboration from the usual for a wine that is also different in its tasting from the usual, no doubt, and that shows us a very personal touch of elaboration of this winery resulting in a wine, this Laudes 2021 that is really excellent, surpassing even the great sensations of the previous vintage.

Tasting of Laudes 2021
In the visual phase of the tasting it presents a straw yellow color, somewhat less intense than the previous vintage but that makes the brilliance and cleanliness stand out more in a still glass, as well as highlighting the tears as they flow throughout the glass in movement. Some greenish reflections with soft and clear steely touches.
Nose of high intensity, complex, lots of fruit, white, citrus, some stone fruit. Light touches of maturity given by the wood, with toasted, floral, some herbaceous, light earthy-minerality, very similar to the previous vintage. If I have to point out a difference between this and the 2020 vintage on the nose, it is that it is more long-lasting, it remains more present.
The palate is spectacular, especially the great acidity that allows it to leave a great structure, with great capacity for aging, a passage through the palate tremendously rich, with lots of fruit, balsamic touches, soft toasted. With respect to the previous vintage, the difference is in the persistence, since quite some time after tasting, you still perceive light touches of acidity in the mouth, really juicy, fresh, very lively, something that also happened in the 2020 but with less intensity.
Tasty, unctuous, slightly glyceric at the beginning but as soon as it passes through the palate it fills you with fresh and lively sensations. A very, very long finish.
Undoubtedly an excellent vintage, for an excellent wine, which exceeds the tasting in sensations to the previous vintage, reaching the score of 93+ points.
