2016 Artadi La Laguna Single Vineyard
Today we move to the municipality of Laguardia (Alava), Rioja Alavesa, to taste this wine, 2016 Artadi La Laguna Single Vineyard, a parcel wine, from one of the best wineries in this country, Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi. A wine that is not under the protection of the DOCa Rioja.
A wine mostly Tempranillo that comes from a plot of only 0.5 ha in Laguardia. This plot is located on the slopes of the Carralogroño lagoon, very close to the town of Laguardia and we find a combination of three native varieties, mainly Tempranillo, along with a significant proportion of Viura and Malvasia vines, which give the wine delicacy and complexity at the same time. We find sandy and permeable soils that build wines with expressive character.
This wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels from the best French cooperages.
A wine with an almost infinite cellaring capacity.
Really powerful, complex in its tasting, with a great tannicity, helped by the great management of the acidity that it presents, giving it a structure that allows it a far from normal aging capacity. Slightly dry but with a complex nose of high intensity, combining fruit and ageing perfectly. Ample on the palate, very good volume, filling and lively on the palate. Great persistence and a tremendously long finish.
After tasting it is a wine this 2016 Artadi La Laguna Single Vineyard that deserves the qualification of Exceptional. A great, great, great wine of course!!.
