2022 Sara Rivera Verdejo

2022 Sara Rivera Verdejo is already a classic wine in our magazine as this is the ninth consecutive vintage that we have tasted. A single varietal Verdejo wine from the heart of the D.O. Rueda, La Seca, with organic wine certification and showing an unmistakable ‘millennial’ touch is the profile of white wines produced by this winery, Bodegas Sara Rivera.

True to its style of wine with almost no intervention, respecting the varietal to the maximum, it is a wine that has that point of liveliness and freshness in the mouth that appeals to younger drinkers on the one hand but, at the same time, with a clear contribution of Verdejo, from the terroir of La Seca, it is a wine that also appeals to lovers and loyalists of this varietal.

A straw yellow of medium intensity in still glass, very bright and clean, with greenish reflections and steely touches of the work of the rest on its lees for about 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

Nose of medium to high intensity. Lots of fruit, citrus, white fruit, floral contributions to white flowers, herbaceous fennel, a touch of scrubland, mineral – earthy. Complex due to the work of the lees that gives some balsamic contribution even.

Really fresh attack on the palate, with great acidity that helps to leave good structure and capacity to improve in the bottle. Vibrant on the palate, medium volume, very good persistence and a fairly long finish. Aftertaste that brings us a lot of fruit.

A Verdejo that always retains the essence of the D.O. Rueda and the varietal but brings that point of differentiation more ‘millennial’ that makes it a really attractive and drinkable wine both in ‘copeteo’ as in pairings.

A wine this Sara Rivera Verdejo 2022 that in this vintage, after its tasting, deserves the rating of Excellent, reaching a score of 92 points.
