2021 Heredad Morán & López Heredad 26 Mencía
D.O. Bierzo
Visual phase: cherry red colour of good chromatic intensity, very clean and bright, with a well covered middle layer, good tear and fluid in movement and some violet edges that denote youth.
Nose: medium-high intensity, very frank, aromas of red fruit, floral touches such as violets, herbaceous notes, very fresh and very clear thanks to the micro-oxygenation. A mineral background very typical of the terroir of the Bierzo region.
Tasting phase: ample entry, very fresh, with fruit and acidity hand in hand very well controlled that leaves us a very good persistence. good volume on the palate with a fairly long finish being a young wine. the aftertaste brings us a lot of fruit.
Sobrelias Scoore: 91+ (Very Good)
Bierzo was accorded DO status in 1989 and in the past few years has experienced a surge in popularity thanks to the high-profile winemaker Alvaro Palacios of Priorat fame establishing vineyards there.
Bierzo’s soil is different from that found in other parts of Castilla y Leon in that it contains a predominance of slate and granite. This favors the Mencia vines and helps them to produce wines with a distinct mineral character. The wines tend to be lighter in terms of alcohol and more refreshing than those from other parts of Castilla y León.
