2020 VS Murua wins the Grand Gold Medal at the Real Casino de Madrid Wine Contest

2020 VS Murua, produced by the Murua winery in Alava, located in the Rioja Alavesa, specifically in Elciego, and belonging to the Masaveu Bodegas wine group, has won the Grand Gold Medal in the fourth edition of the Real Casino de Madrid Wine Competition. The jury, composed of a team of experts with extensive national and international experience, awarded 23 Grand Gold, 79 Gold and 85 Silver medals to wines from all over Spain.
This competition, which promotes the winning wines in 280 important social clubs in Spain and abroad, maintains the objective of «highlighting and disseminating the enormous diversity and richness of the wines produced in Spain, promoting the culture of wine and its social and economic importance».
Founded in 1836, the Real Casino de Madrid is one of the most important private social clubs in the world. Its headquarters is a unique building declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1993, which treasures important works of art.
VS Murua, whose label has been updated for this 2020 vintage, is a Rioja red wine of great personality, elegance and fruity expression. It is a seductive wine that reflects the place it comes from, the Alavesa mountains, and in a fantastic vintage for wine lovers, the 2020 vintage.
It is one of the two modern style references that the winery produces together with M de Murua, in which the raw material, i.e. the grape, plays a leading role, and with this objective in mind, the vineyards from which it comes located in the vicinity of the winery are cared for.
VS Murua is a red wine aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels, 90% of which is made from Tempranillo and 10% from Mazuelo grapes.
It has a beautiful bright red color, with violet reflections, an intense fruity aroma and an elegant, smooth, fresh and pleasant taste, but with a long, sweet and conquering finish.
