2020 Librandi Asylia Rosso Melissa Gaglioppo
2020 Librandi Asylia Rosso Melissa Gaglioppo is an Italian wine produced in the Calabria area (Melissa DOGC, in the south of the country) by the Librandi winery as a single varietal Gaglioppo. Made in stainless steel tanks with short macerations and controlled fermentations. It spends a few months in bottle before being released on the market.
A wine that leaves us with a faint ruby-red, cherry color in the glass, with light violet and raspberry reflections in movement. Bright and clean with a medium-low layer.
Although it looks like a wine without power, in nose and mouth it is far from those sensations. In this way, the nose presents very good intensity, with lots of red fruit, with contributions to strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, with mineral-earthy contributions, spicy softly, toffee, vanilla, leather. Undoubtedly more complex than it appears on the nose.
Meanwhile, in the mouth, it presents a powerful but fresh attack, slightly dry, with character, good acidity that helps to leave a good structure. Tannins present, with an elegant passage through the palate, silky, medium volume, fruit and spicy contributions in a medium-long passage. Very good persistence and a medium-long finish as well. Aftertaste with a lot of fruit presence.
It allows us to know well this autochthonous Italian varietal such as Gaglioppo.
A wine that after tasting deserves the rating of Very Good, reaching a score of 88+ points.
