2019 Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Shiraz
2019 Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Shiraz is a red wine made in the South Eastern area of Australia, single varietal Shiraz by Wolf Blass winery. This wine has a 13.5% vol.
With body, character, quite powerful, with a palpable tannic presence but not too much, having been in bottle for some time. A dry attack at times that soon passes and with a very correct acidity that helps to leave a good structure and good cellaring capacity.
In view, in a still glass, it is a wine that leaves us a garnet and ruby color in still glass, with good tear, quite high layer. Bright and clean.
A nose of medium to high intensity, with presence of fruit, slightly ripe, highlighting the notes of black fruit (plum, blackcurrant, blackberry), some red fruit, such as cherries and raspberries, with some spicy contributions from the barrel with hints of oak, vanilla, slightly sweet spices.
Fairly fresh attack on the palate, very easy to drink, good acidity, lots of fruit, full-bodied, good volume on the palate, slightly dry, tannins present but not too much. Good persistence and a fairly long finish.
A quite correct Shiraz although, for my taste, it lacks a little more complexity to give it a distinct personality. Nevertheless, it is a good example of the Shiraz / Syrah we find in Australia, very classic in that sense.
A wine that after tasting deserves the rating of Very Good, reaching 89 points.
