2017 De Wetshof Rhine Riesling
2017 De Wetshof Rhine Riesling a wine that is produced by the De Wetshof Estate winery in the Robertson area in Breede River Valley, Western Cape, South Africa. This wine is made with the varietal Weisser Riesling (100% Riesling) from vineyards with gravel soils very rich in lime, which contributes to leave a very good acidity in its tasting. A young wine that has not been aged in oak barrels.
In view, in a still glass, we find a wine that leaves us with a straw color of medium chromatic intensity, bright, clean, with steely reflections in movement.
On the nose, with a medium intensity, fruity aromas such as white fruit (pear or apple), hints of stone fruit (apricots). Floral aromas of medium intensity. When aerating the glass appear hints of honey, aromas of oil, mineral touches, creamy contributions.
Fresh attack, a bit dry at the beginning, with a very good acidity on the palate which allows it to leave a good structure. Medium volume on the palate with a vibrant touch. Very good persistence and a medium finish with a very interesting sweet touch.
A good wine to compare the Rieslings produced in different areas of the world.
A wine that after tasting deserves the rating of Very Good, reaching a score of 90+ points.
