2017 Château de Varennes – Savennières
Today we move to France, more specifically to the A.O.C. Savennières, south of the Loire, to present this fantastic wine, Château de Varennes – Savennieres 2017. A wine that comes from a 7-hectare estate planted solely with Chenin Blanc.
Located in the heart of the Savennières appellation, on the northern bank of the Loire, the vineyard offers a panoramic view of the river. The soil of the vineyard is composed of gray-blue slate schist soils, the exposure is to the south southeast.
After a manual harvest, this Chenin Blanc is aged for 10-12 months in 400l French oak barrels of first and second use.
A wine that in sight in stopped glass leaves us a very clear, bright and clean golden color.
A very good intensity on the nose, with a lot of fruit presence, hints of quince, ripe touches, dried fruits such as almonds, yellow fruits, floral contributions (mainly white), citrus touches. Mineral background. Complex and balanced.
A broad attack on the palate, fresh on entry, a bit dry but quickly passes. Great acidity, with a very good structure. Fruity, fresh, medium volume, with very good persistence and a long finish.
A wine that after tasting deserves an Excellent rating.
