2017 Alta Pavina Citius Pinot Noir
We traveled to La Parrilla (Valladolid), to delve into a particular project that revolves around the variety «Pinot Noir«. From the estate ‘Pago de la Pavina’, a wasteland on the banks of the Duero River at 1,000m above sea level, the vineyards from which the wine we will taste next is produced. I bring you this wine 2017 Alta Pavina Citius Pinot Noir.
A single varietal 100% Pinot Noir, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and almost five years in bottle at the time of tasting.
In the visual phase we find a wine of high layer and marked tear. It stands out for its ruby colors, with a cherry rim and a very bright and clean finish.
The nose is frank and expressive, with a medium-high intensity. It has a complex profile, with a range of fruity aromas ranging from strawberries or red berries to black plum compote. It has a background marked by hints of underbush, noble woods or vanilla.
The taste phase translates into a powerful entry with marked tannins and well-structured tannins. The palate is pleasant due to the good balance between the body, the freshness coming from the acidity and the outstanding fruit profile. It has a persistent aftertaste, very pleasant and with a marked woody profile.
It is an ideal pairing with long-aged blue cheeses, Iberian cured meats or chocolate desserts.
A wine that after its tasting deserves the qualification of Very Good, reaching a score of 91 points.
