2016 Malojer Gummerhof Blauburgunder Riserva
2016 Malojer Gummerhof Blauburgunder Riserva is a wine produced in Italy under the protection of the DOCG Alto-Adige, Südtirol – Alto Adige (Bolzano). A wine that is made with the varietal that gives it its name, the Blauburgunder. Do not be surprised, it is one of the names that receives the best known as Pinot Noir, so you can locate you better. It is produced by the winery Malojer Gummerhof.
A wine with a medium body, more than the usual Pinot Noirs with less aging time, which still retains the softness and elegance typical of the wines produced by this grape and to which is added the complexity that gives it being a ‘Riserva’. A dry attack and passage that is counterbalanced by a very good acidity that leaves warmth and liveliness on the palate.
Intense ruby, medium-depth, bright and clean, is what is perceived in a still glass.
Nose with medium-high intensity, with a strong presence of black fruit aromas such as plums, blackberries, with many contributions from aging such as a touch of tobacco, chocolate, oak, touches of leather, with a very interesting mineral contribution.
On the palate the attack is dry, as I mentioned, with ripe fruit and good acidity, which give it good structure and cellaring capacity. Medium volume, more full-bodied than the less aged Pinots to which we are more accustomed. Elegant on the palate, lively, good persistence and a medium to long finish.
A Pinot Noir different from the usual ones since the aging is longer, making it very worth tasting. After this, it is a wine that deserves the rating of Excellent.
